Coupling the relevant physics the right way Mathematical modeling of aspects of cardiac physiology, such as elastomechanics, electrophysiology and flow, has seen tremendous advances during the last years. The coupling of two or more of these physics to an integrated heart model remains challenging, though, due to differing temporal and spatial scales and various ways of interaction. In this workshop, we want to address the following questions: Which coupling scenarios are relevant for certain use cases (e.g. during a physiological heart beat or in disease modeling)? What are appropriate models to describe the coupling and methods to... posted on : January 17, 2019 |
The I Conference on Transfer between Mathematics & Industry [CTMI 2019] aims the promotion and dissemination of the mathematical tools of Statistics & Big Data and MSO (Modelling, Simulation and Optimization) and its industrial applications, the promotion of new research lines oriented to the needs of the industry and the society in general, the renewal of curricula in this field and at all educational levels and the industry-academia collaboration internationalization.

The first joint IBOSS-ECMath workshop on optimization methods in healthcare took place on 18.-19. October 2018 at the Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB). It was organized and supported by ECMath and the MODAL AG. The research project Information-Based Optimization of Surgery Schedules (IBOSS) aims at developing fast algorithms to optimize for more efficient resource utilization in daily operating room schedules at hospitals. IBOSS is carried out by three research institutions: ZIB, Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Paderborn each contribute with their individual expertise. The... posted on : December 14, 2018 |

18.10.2018 The healthcare sector is globally growing, in quantity and complexity. Hence, conventional planning becomes a much more challenging task. Novel advances ask for highly specialized optimization methods to improve the efficiency of current healthcare systems. The 1st IBOSS-ECMath workshop "Optimization Methods in Healthcare" aims to connect people that work in this intersecting fields of operations research and process planning in healthcare. We will present computational optimization methods for different healthcare planning problems and discuss how we can make them... posted on : October 12, 2018 |
