Knowledge Exchange Community Meeting - Industrial Maths in Action

September 19 - 20, 2017

Fieldgroup

General Information

Following on from the successful 2015 KE Community Meeting, this meeting is designed for both academic mathematicians and industrial scientists and will focus on how to do industrial maths with a particular emphasis on how to develop contacts between academia and industry and how to ensure that mathematical results are carried through to implementation.

At the previous meeting, the use of mini-study group type activities at various universities as a proven mechanism to enhance industrial collaborations was highlighted. Not all participants at the 2015 meeting, were familiar with this activity so it was agreed the next community meeting would include an example of how this works.  This has been scheduled for Day 2 of the meeting.

Additionally, the meeting will include an update on the Review of knowledge exchange in the mathematical sciences, chaired by Council for Science and Technology member, Professor Philip Bond, has been launched with support from EPSRC and Innovate UK's Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) that is currently underway. For more information on the review see the website.

We are delighted to have the support of  MI-NET,  European Consortium for Mathematics in Industry, ECMI , Knowledge Transfer Network and Bath Institute for Mathematical Innovation for this meeting.

(MI-NET is funded by COST through the EU Framework Programme Horizon 2020)

It is hoped that most delegates will be able to participate in both days of the meeting.  However, it is recognised that diaries are busy and for some this may not be possible. Please register, including details of which days you plan to attend, for the meeting using the Application Form
